brought to you by Kroger – all opinions are mine.

My wife and I don’t get to go on many dates. Like most parents our age, our lives are busy and the stress of getting a baby-sitter and carving out a huge chunk of the day for just us is hard. I do love to cook for her and want to be able to surprise her with a delicious home cook meal that she does not have to prepare from time to time. That is why I am thankful for Kroger‘s new Prep+Pared meal kits.

I love steak. My wife loves Mexican food. So, I prepared the Carne Asada Steak with Fajita Vegetables and Refried Black Beans. Although, there were many different meal kits to choose from and I will definitely be back the next time I need to surprise my wife with a home cooked meal! The Coconut Curry Chicken looks pretty good.

A few things on the box gave me some confidence that I could attempt this meal.  One: “easy chop,” two: “20 minutes” and three: “100% measured and prepped.”  The recipe card comes with the meal, too!

I opened the box and laid out the ingredients.

The first step was to sear the steak, which was very easy.

After the steak was cooked, I sautéed the vegetables in the same pan while the steak rested.

The next step was to cut the steak while the black beans cooked in the microwave. I must say, I am a pro at cutting steak. I am half Argentine, you know, so steak is my thing.

I did manage to forget to smash the beans so instead of “refried” beans, we had whole black beans, but that was still really good.

My wife was very impressed with this meal and I was pretty proud of myself, too. It allowed us to both eat something that we both loved with minimal prep and clean-up.

I am very excited to have Kroger’s Prep+Pared meal kits in my court. These would be great for any day, but especially for wowing the wife! They have different kits for different diets, as well.  Gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, and of course, those with meat like the one I prepared.

What is your go to at-home date meal?
